My goal is to capture the energy or feeling of a scene by exploring color and the expressive application of paint. I strive not to let my expectations distract me throughout the process, always staying open to more exploratory paths that may arise. The spontaneous space is where the magic and learning happen. The movement through a scene, which may be wind, energy, or something else, are things I consider while applying color. Creating a believable scene by focusing on illusory depth and atmosphere is essential, yet my priorities lie in the overall feeling of a piece. Curiosity and wonder are some feelings I convey. I focus on natural settings because I feel these emotions most frequently in those places.
